Charles H. Fells, Sr. passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on July 28, 1943, to the late William P., Sr. and Edith (Burr) Fells.
Charles married the love of his life, Vicki Beckwith Fells on October 19, 1966. She predeceased him on December 18, 2017. He is survived by one brother, William P. Fells, Jr., and his wife Ellie of Rhinebeck and three sisters, Barbara Pitt of Colorado, Dorothy LoGiudice and Shirley Dillenbeck, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Also, two sons, Jon T. Fells, Poughkeepsie and Charles H. Fells, Jr., Hyde Park. Two grandchildren, David and Olivia Fells, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister Mildred Scott and grandson Christopher Fells.
Charles attended Hyde Park Schools. He first worked in the construction and landscaping business. He went on to become foreman of the Wappingers Rural Cemetery and then for more than forty years worked at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery working his way up to Superintendent. He was instrumental in starting many programs and services to make the cemetery what it is today. He was a life member of the Italian Center and the Elks Club. He enjoyed traveling many years to Florida. He loved the ocean, collecting antiques and going to auctions.

There are no calling hours. Services will be Thursday, February 22, 2018, 10:30 AM in the Chapel of Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Entombment will follow in the in the family crypt.
