Vera D. Maisel passed away peacefully at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on Monday, January 15, 2018. Her family at her bedside included her son Gordon, daughter-in-law Eleanor and daughter Phyllis Maisel. Born on June 29, 1925, Vera was 92 years old.
Vera's husband Marvin died on November 4, 1991 and her son Edward predeceased her in 2009. Vera grew up in Edmonton, England. She married Marvin Maisel in February, 1945. Vera's husband served in the 82nd Airborne Division in the United States Army in Europe during World War II. Vera came to the United States with her husband in 1946 and became a US citizen in 1952.
Vera was a loving and caring mother and wife. She enjoyed doing word puzzles, gardening and playing baseball with her children and the neighbor's kids. She enjoyed taking photos of her family and her children in England. Vera attended her son's High School graduation and Boot Camp graduation from the Navy. Vera held birthday parties for her children and the children in the neighborhood would be invited. Vera was a grandmother to Ann Marie Maisel, Melody , Ruthann, Anita, Janette, Linda, Benny, Rich, Sheila and Michael. She will be missed and was loved very much.
There are no calling hours. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 2:00pm at Vassar Temple, 140 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
