Suzette "Sue" Mentavlos went to rest with the Lord on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Pine Haven Nursing Home and Rehab in Philmont, New York. Born in Cornwall, England on October 7, 1927, she was the daughter of Edith and Milford Yates.
On April 26, 1952 she married Charles, her loving husband of 43 years in Sharon, Connecticut. Her husband predeceased her on October 5, 1995. Suzette worked for many years at Trussell Manufacturing Company until it closed. She then worked for the City of Poughkeepsie Parking Authority until she retired in 1992.
Suzette was a member of the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church amd the Ladies of the Elks #275. She always enjoyed the company and the good times spent with her family and good friends.
Suzette is survived by her two daughters, Diana Minners of Hudson, New York and Connie Mastroeni and son-in-law Joseph of Hyde Park, New York. Also surviving are her five grandchildren, Paul Mastroeni (Meghan), Chris Mastroeni (Jeniffer), Sheila Zito (David), Kelli Michalko (Paul) and Bonnie Lynch (Kym) who were the joys of her life. Suzette also leaves behind her very devoted companion Salvatore Laudone as well as10 great-grand children and several nieces and nephews. Suzette was predeceased by her parents and son-in-law Robert Minners.
Those who knew Suzette will always remember her warm smile, kind heart and great food. The family would like to especially thank the staff of Pine Haven Nursing Home for their exceptional care, professionalism and kindness throughout Suzette’s stay there.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Wm. G. Miller Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 10 AM in Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, 140 South Grand Avenue, Poughkeepsie. Burial will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
