Louise R. Mylod Sherry, 82, resident of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and Longboat Key, FL passed
away on Friday, October 14th at home surrounded by her family. Her ever-present smile was
the sign of the care and love she had for her family and friends.
Louise Rosalie Salvo was born on February 17th, 1934 in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was the daughter
of John and Margaret Salvo.
Louise married Philip D. Mylod in Brooklyn, N.Y. on August 17th, 1957. He died May 3rd, 1968.
On October 9th, 1982, in New Paltz, N.Y. she married William J. Sherry. He died on August
14th, 2006.
Louise began her work career in New York City and retired as Paymaster at Western Printing
Co., Inc. in Poughkeepsie in 1982. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the island of Bermuda
and Italy. Her other interests included playing Bridge, reading, theater movies, crossword
puzzles and golf. She was a former member of The Dutchess Golf and Country Club. Louise
was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Poughkeepsie and The St. Mary Star of the Sea Church
in Longboat Key, FL. She always had great love and affection for all of her pets.
Louise is survived by her sons Philip J. Mylod and his wife Joann of Pleasant Valley; Patrick M.
Mylod and his wife Victoria of Poughkeepsie; daughter Patricia Miller (Toby) of Poughkeepsie;
son William J. Sherry (Judy) of Pleasanton, CA; Susan Milligy of Fishkill, N.Y.; Margaret Covney
Dugan (Mark) of Pittsford, N.Y.; Nancy Dingee of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Joan Sherry of Ashburn,
VA. and Jean Ahart (John) of Kinnelon, N.J. Sisters Joan Shadic of Copake, N.Y. and Patricia
Gentner of Longboat Key, FL and brother Michael Salvo of Monroe Township, N.J. Other
survivors include 17 grandchildren, three great grandchilden and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sister Kathy Prescottano, sisters-in-law Connie Salvo and Miriam
Henkel, brothers-in-law Frederick Gentner, Ralph Shadic and William Prescottano.
Calling hours to be held from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Thursday, October 20th at the William G.
Miller and Son Funeral Home located at 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
A Mass for Louise will be held on Friday, October 21st, 2016 at St. Mary’s Church, 231 Church St.,
Poughkeepsie, N.Y. 12601 at 10AM.
