John C. Foster, Sr.,86, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 24, 2016. John was born on November 4, 1929 in Easton, PA. He was the son of Justin Wanck Foster and Jacqueline Stanley Bevan Foster. He married Marilyn Olsen in Montclair, New Jersey on December 22, 1951 who survives at home.
John attended schools in Easton, PA. and graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in Mining Engineering. He was employed as a plant manager for NY TrapRock , LoneStar Industries, Hamburg, NY for many years. John enjoyed golfing, tennis and watching his Philadelphia Phillies. He was a former member of the Dutchess Golf & Country Club and past president of McCann-Caven Memorial Golf Course.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, John (Jack) C. Foster, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Cooperstown, NY, Elizabeth Foster Norton of Bethesda, MD, Mary Foster Fleckenstein of Port Jefferson, LI and Nancy Foster Kovacs and husband Joseph of Milton, NY, 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Irene Sparta and Susan Willett of Stone Harbor, NJ. He was predeceased by a daughter, Joanne Foster Dyer and a sister Ann Corey.
