Sophie Kedzielawa, born March 12 1929, passed away on Wednesday June 22, 2016 at the age of 87. Sophie was a good hearted, strong willed lady who loved to laugh. She was a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, parishioner of St. Joseph's Church and student of St. Joseph's School. Sophie was proud of her Polish Catholic heritage and ability to speak polish. She was a hairdresser for over 30 years and loved making people look their best. Sophie enjoyed line dancing, bowling, traveling and doing crafts and puzzles. Sophie's husband, William, was the love of her life and passed away in 2004. Sophie was one of four children, sister, Stella Rohan, and brothers, Raymond Malinawski and Chester Malinawski (deceased). Sophie is survived by daughters, Clare and Joni, their husbands, Ed and Michael, grandson Glen and his wife Nicole, great grandsons, Edward and Aiden, grandson, Bryan and his fiancée, Joanne. Sophie is a survivor of colon cancer, breast cancer, and Alzheimer's disease.
Visitation will be Friday, June 24, 2016, 3-7PM, at the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10AM in St. Joseph's Church, 9 Lafayette Place, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
