Hard to believe that Joe has been with the Lord for a year. He was such an amazing Man. I certainly miss him and always enjoyed our telephone conversations regarding his past trips or future ideas that he had to get excited about. I think about him and his family and know that he is being well taken care of and looking down on Ed and the whole family. I am so sorry to learn of Joe’s passing. My husband, Joe Lopez, worked with him at IBM for many years. In the late 1970’s, Joe gave us a great dog named Snoopy, who we had for several years. I regret that I just learned of Joe’s passing today, when I was paying respects to my husband in the mausoleum. My deepest condolences to the Mills family.

Dear Ed & Family, I was so sorry to see the passing of Joe, my condolences to you all. Joe and I interacted at Cary for many years. He was good at his job and I always enjoyed his stories of travel with Ed. When I asked him once why don't you retire his answer was, I work this job so I can travel and travel he did. No grass growing under his feet, he got the most out of life and I was always impressed with his excitement and energy to travel. He was a good man who undoubtedly is in a good place now. I met Joe and Ed many years ago when they were interested in taking a trip through my agency.

Joe was still working at the Cary Arboretum at the time. He loved the idea of sharig his

experiences with me and I loved listening to them. He remembered every detail and I was so

impressed with his knowledge and his admiration for his family. As I read his obituary, I am even

more impressed by his accomplishments he made over his lifetime. I was so sorry to hear of his

passing but I know he is ready for his next journey to heaven. He will certainly be missed by all
