Sorry to hear of your loss. Thecla was more than just an aunt; she was the one that you always looked for when company arrived from New York. She was always a caring person you could not help loving her for she always loved your company. If she could she would always try to make you laugh always looking at the bright side. Thecla will be greatly missed by her family and her extended family the Kurylo’s Olijarczyk’s & the Panczyszy’s. There are more friends and families that she impacted and we all feel your pain. As Natalie's roommate in college, I was so fortunate to meet Thecla Kurylo when she accepted several of us college brats into her home over a Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend. The stories of the road trip there and back, of the earthquake we experienced while bumping around in NYC, train rides, etc, and all that jazz that comes when a country girl visits the big city for the first time, have remained a large part of my memory. However, the best part of that weekend was the STEW! While hanging out in her kitchen watching it come together, I did not realize, at the time, that I should have been taking notes...until it was too late! One bite at supper that evening left me, literally begging for the recipe, and begging for several years!!! Every time we spoke or mailed (snail mail- this was long before internet) each other, it always ended with "Send Stew!" My college graduation present from "Mom" was the recipe for stew! To this day (25 years later) it remains a staple in my recipe box, and one of the "go to comfort foods" when the weather turns cold. In fact, we enjoyed it last weekend, when the weather forecast for NC turned nasty and cold.

The best thing her recipe taught me was...... the ingredients are so very simple, and alone are very bland. Even when simply mixed they remain bland; it takes a few hours of attention and love to bring the best flavors out. Thecla was such a beautiful person and inspiration for our generation and many more. Rest in peace, sweet lady. My thoughts and prayers are with you Mr. K., Michael, Maryann, Natalie, and Nicholas.

Alex , you are an amazing man...an amazing husband. I witnessed many many times Thecla`s face light up when you came into her view...the look of love. I loved Thecla, I loved being with her ,loved her stories and her thoughts. A beautiful woman . Alex,now it is time for you to take better care of yourself. God bless you and your family
