On Sunday, January 31, 2021, Francis "Frank" John Rahemba, 99, of Poughkeepsie, NY peacefully passed away. He was born on September 18, 1921 to John and Victoria Rahemba. He was formerly from New Windsor, NY before marrying Josephine M. Cwik on May 12, 1946 at St. Joseph's church, Poughkeepsie, NY.
Frank was a strong, loving, proud man, a gentlemen. His pride and joy was his family. A sportsman, a WWII veteran, an active Polish American Citizens Club member (he was a Grand Marshall!) and a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he loved to dance! In fact, his love of dancing is how the love story of Frank and Jo began. It's always been a pleasure to watch Frank and Jo twirl around the dance floor...whether a slow dance, lindy hop or a polka! It was a delight.
He had many favorites that kept him busy, the Cardinals, the Rangers hockey, trout fishing, hunting and the best vegetable garden ever. After his retirement from IBM, he enjoyed his camper at Camp Waubeeka, W. Copake, NY. He and his wife Jo spent many summers enjoying cookouts, campfires and exploring the Copake area. His love of sports was undeniable with traveling with his boys to NYC to watch a game. Fishing and hunting with his son. All a testament to the full life he enjoyed.
Frank is mourned by his children, sons Robert (Susan), Wappingers Falls, and Gary, Poughkeepsie; and his daughters Francine LoCastro(Barry), Daytona Beach, FL, Theresa Fitzgerald(David), Pleasant Valley, and Jane Ann Clark(James), Bluffton, SC. Frank was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 16 (almost17) great-grandchildren. Truly blessed....all of us.
He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine M. Cwik Rahemba, his daughter-in-law Alice Fahlman Rahemba, and his brother and 8 sisters.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life will be planned for at a later, safer date.
