Obituary for Linda R. MacIsaac

Linda R MacIsaac, 71 of Poughkeepsie passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at her home on Monday, January 11, 2021 from a long battle with Breast Cancer. She was first diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 1996 and over the course of 25 years she battled through multiple surgeries, chemotherapies, radiation and many different types of medication. No matter how sick she felt or tired she was she always had a positive attitude, never lost her sense of humor and fought through it all like a warrior. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attended every soccer game, school plays, recitals and dance competitions. During her own chemo treatments Linda could see a patient that was scared and upset, who was newly diagnosed with Cancer and was having their first chemo treatment. Linda had a way of making them feel better by sharing her story of her long battling with this disease.

Linda was born in Poughkeepsie to Leslie and Jean Roe, she was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Leslie (Chip) Roe. She was married to Brian MacIsaac, Brian preceded her in 2010. Linda is survived by her sister Susan Wilson of Arizona, her daughter and son in law Tara and Wade Smith of Virgina, her son and daughter in law Devin and Lori MacIsaac of New York, 3 grandchildren Lauren, Ian and Avah and several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Linda was a graduate of Arlington High School and went to Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. Linda was in banking most of her adult life, she retired from the City of Poughkeepsie as the Social Development Director. Linda accomplished so much, she was a member of many boards, committees and organizations. The Dutchess County Art Council, the Family Development and Day Care Center, Poughkeepsie Area Chamber of Commerce, the Hudson Valley Chapter of the Bank Administration, Dutchess County Hospice, YMCA, Camp Wawa Segowea and she was also a City Council Member. After she retired she volunteered for Castle Point as the only women volunteer to drive the veterans to and from their medical appointments. She loved "driving her boys" as she would say and volunteered up until Covid 19. Even while enduring treatments and not feeling 100% she continued to volunteer and enjoyed talking to the veterans, hearing their stories, laughing and joking with them.

Due to Covid services will be held at Wm. G. Miller & Son F.H., Inc. at a later date. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation in Linda’s name to the American Cancer Society. If you wish to send an online condolence please visit our website at www.wmgmillerfuneralhome.com
